# Payment Problems

Use this guide when Eventixa payment methods do not appear, online payments fail, bookings remain pending, payment status does not match the actual transaction, offline payments are not reflected correctly, WooCommerce orders do not synchronize as expected, or a refund/cancellation produces an unexpected result.

Eventixa keeps booking state and payment state related but separate. A booking can exist without a successful payment, and a successful payment should not be inferred only from the presence of a booking record.

A simplified paid registration flow is:

**Ticket → Checkout → Payment Method → Gateway Result → Booking Status / Payment Status**

The exact behavior depends on the selected payment method.

## Before You Begin

Before changing payment settings:

1. Identify the exact event, ticket, and booking.
2. Confirm whether the ticket is paid or free.
3. Note the payment method used.
4. Record the current booking status.
5. Record the current payment status.
6. Check whether the issue happened in test/sandbox mode or live mode.
7. Do not retry a live payment blindly if the gateway may already have charged the customer.
8. If a transaction may have completed externally, verify it in the payment provider before changing the Eventixa booking manually.

Avoid changing a booking to paid only because the customer says payment was attempted. First confirm the provider result.

## Quick Diagnosis

| Symptom | First Check |
| --- | --- |
| No payment method appears | Eventixa → Settings → Payments |
| PayPal is missing | PayPal gateway status and configuration |
| Stripe is missing | Eventixa Pro, Stripe status, Stripe configuration |
| Offline payment is not marked paid | Manual/offline payment state |
| Booking remains pending | Gateway result and payment status |
| Customer was charged but Eventixa shows unpaid | Gateway transaction + Eventixa payment state |
| Eventixa shows paid but gateway does not | Provider transaction record |
| WooCommerce checkout fails | Eventixa WooCommerce settings + WooCommerce order/gateway |
| Refund does not reach customer | Payment provider refund workflow |
| Booking cancellation does not mean refund | Booking state vs payment refund |
| Currency looks wrong | Eventixa → Settings → Payments → Currency |
| Payment works in test but not live | Live credentials/environment |

## Check Payment Settings

Go to: **Eventixa → Settings → Payments**

Review:

- Currency
- Available Payment Gateways
- PayPal configuration
- Offline Payment configuration
- WooCommerce Checkout where used
- Stripe configuration when Eventixa Pro is active

Only active and correctly configured payment methods should appear during eligible paid checkout.

## Confirm the Ticket Is Paid

A payment gateway is only relevant to a paid ticket.

Open the event and verify the affected ticket price.

If the price is: **0** the registration should follow a free checkout workflow without requiring an online payment.

If a free ticket asks for payment, fix the ticket configuration before troubleshooting the gateway.

## No Payment Method Appears

If a paid ticket reaches checkout but no payment method is available:

1. Go to **Eventixa → Settings → Payments**.
2. Confirm at least one supported gateway is enabled.
3. Confirm the gateway configuration is complete.
4. Confirm the ticket price is greater than zero.
5. Save the settings.
6. Retest in a private browser window.

If using native Stripe, Eventixa Pro must be active.

If using WooCommerce Checkout, also verify the WooCommerce payment methods.

## Booking Status and Payment Status Are Different

Eventixa tracks registration state and payment state separately.

A booking can exist while payment is:

- Pending
- Not completed
- Failed
- Refunded
- Otherwise not confirmed

Do not use booking existence alone as proof of payment.

When troubleshooting a payment, always review both the booking status and the payment status.

## Booking Remains Pending

A paid booking can remain pending if the payment workflow did not complete successfully.

Check:

1. Open **Eventixa → Bookings**.
2. Open the affected booking.
3. Review the payment method.
4. Review the payment status.
5. Check the gateway/provider transaction.
6. Confirm whether checkout was interrupted.
7. Confirm whether the payment provider returned success.

If the provider has no successful transaction, do not mark the booking paid manually unless your operational process explicitly confirms payment another way.

## Customer Was Charged but Booking Is Pending

This requires careful verification.

Check the payment provider first.

For example:

- PayPal transaction history
- Stripe payment record
- WooCommerce order/payment record

If the provider confirms payment but Eventixa still shows a pending or unpaid state, record:

- Transaction/reference ID
- Booking ID
- Customer email
- Payment timestamp
- Amount
- Currency

Then investigate the synchronization/callback result.

Do not ask the customer to pay again until you confirm whether the first payment actually succeeded.

## Eventixa Shows Paid but Provider Does Not

If Eventixa shows a successful payment but the provider does not:

1. Verify you are checking the correct provider account.
2. Check test vs live environment.
3. Confirm the transaction/reference ID.
4. Confirm amount and currency.
5. Review whether the booking was updated manually.
6. Confirm whether Offline Payment was used instead of an online gateway.

For financial reconciliation, the payment provider record should be treated as the authoritative external transaction record.

## PayPal Problems

PayPal is available in Eventixa Core.

If PayPal does not appear or fails:

- Confirm PayPal is enabled.
- Confirm required PayPal credentials are configured.
- Confirm the correct environment is being used.
- Verify the ticket is paid.
- Confirm the currency is supported by your PayPal configuration.
- Check the resulting booking and payment state.
- Verify the transaction in PayPal.

If test credentials are used in live mode, or live credentials are used in test mode, payment can fail.

## PayPal Payment Completed but Eventixa Did Not Update

If PayPal shows a successful transaction but Eventixa did not update the booking:

1. Confirm the PayPal transaction.
2. Confirm the booking belongs to the same customer, amount, and event.
3. Note the transaction/reference ID.
4. Check whether the site could receive the expected payment result/callback.
5. Review any server/security layer that may block external requests.
6. Avoid manually reprocessing payment until the original transaction is verified.

If necessary, keep the provider transaction record available for support diagnosis.

## Stripe Problems

Native Stripe support requires Eventixa Pro.

If Stripe is missing:

- Confirm Eventixa Pro is active.
- Confirm Stripe is enabled.
- Confirm Stripe credentials/configuration are complete.
- Verify the ticket is paid.
- Confirm you are using the intended test/live environment.

If Stripe appears but payment fails, check the Stripe transaction/payment record for the actual failure result.

## Stripe Test vs Live Mode

A common payment issue is mixing environments.

Verify that:

- Test credentials are used for test payments.
- Live credentials are used for live payments.
- The Stripe account is correctly configured.
- The customer is not using test card details in live mode.

If a payment works in test mode but fails in live mode, compare the live configuration instead of changing the Eventixa ticket.

## Offline Payment Problems

Offline Payment allows a booking to be created while payment is handled outside the website.

Examples include:

- Bank transfer
- Pay at venue
- Direct organizer payment

An offline booking should not automatically be considered paid.

The administrator must follow the supported offline payment workflow and update the applicable booking/payment state when payment has actually been received.

## Offline Booking Exists but Payment Is Pending

This can be expected.

The booking exists because the registration was created.

Payment remains pending until the offline payment is confirmed through your operational process.

Do not troubleshoot this as an online gateway failure.

## WooCommerce Checkout Problems

When WooCommerce Checkout is used, the payment flow involves both Eventixa and WooCommerce.

Review: **Eventixa → Settings → Payments → WooCommerce** and the relevant WooCommerce settings/order.

Check:

- WooCommerce is installed and active.
- Eventixa WooCommerce Checkout is enabled.
- The WooCommerce order exists.
- The WooCommerce payment gateway is enabled.
- Order status is correct.
- Amount and currency match.
- The Eventixa booking is associated with the expected transaction/order.

Do not diagnose a WooCommerce gateway only from Eventixa settings.

## WooCommerce Order Paid but Eventixa Booking Is Not Updated

Check the WooCommerce order first.

Record:

- Order ID
- Order status
- Payment method
- Payment date
- Total
- Currency

Then compare the related Eventixa booking.

If WooCommerce shows a completed/successful payment but Eventixa does not reflect it, the issue is in the synchronization between the commerce order and the Eventixa booking state.

Avoid creating a second booking or payment until the original order is verified.

## Currency Problems

Open:

**Eventixa → Settings → Payments → Currency**

Check the configured currency before accepting paid registrations.

If the currency is wrong:

- Correct the Eventixa currency.
- Verify the gateway supports that currency.
- Retest with a new test booking.

Changing currency does not convert historical transactions.

Existing payments remain tied to the amount and currency originally processed.

## Amount Does Not Match the Ticket Price

Compare:

- Ticket price
- Quantity
- Coupon/discount
- Checkout subtotal
- Checkout total
- Provider transaction amount

A mismatch can be caused by:

- Quantity
- Discount
- Coupon
- WooCommerce tax/commerce handling where applicable
- Incorrect ticket price
- Wrong currency

Review the checkout summary before focusing on the gateway.

## Payment Failed but Booking Exists

A booking can be created before a payment reaches a successful final state.

This means: **Booking Exists ≠ Payment Succeeded**

Check the payment status and provider transaction.

The failed or pending booking should not be treated as a completed paid registration unless the payment is confirmed.

## Duplicate Charge Concern

If a customer reports being charged twice:

1. Do not retry payment.
2. Check the provider transaction history.
3. Compare timestamps and amounts.
4. Compare booking/order references.
5. Determine whether there are actually two provider transactions.
6. If duplicated, handle the refund using the provider-supported process.

Do not assume duplicate Eventixa booking records automatically mean duplicate charges.

## Cancellation Is Not the Same as Refund

Cancelling an Eventixa booking and refunding money are separate operations.

Cancellation can:

- Change the booking state
- Release applicable ticket capacity

It does not automatically guarantee that funds were returned through every payment provider.

For providers requiring manual refund handling, process the financial refund through the provider.

## Manual Refund Workflow

When a payment method requires manual refund handling:

1. Cancel the Eventixa booking through the supported workflow.
2. Confirm capacity is released according to the booking state.
3. Process the actual refund through the payment provider.
4. Update the Eventixa payment/booking record according to the supported workflow.
5. Verify the final state.

Eventixa can represent the booking/refund state, but the payment provider may still need to process the actual transfer of funds.

## Refund Completed in Provider but Eventixa Still Looks Paid

If the provider shows a completed refund but Eventixa does not reflect it:

1. Verify the exact refunded transaction.
2. Confirm full vs partial refund.
3. Confirm the booking associated with the transaction.
4. Check whether the refund is expected to synchronize automatically for that payment method.
5. If the workflow is manual, update the Eventixa booking/payment state using the supported admin process.

Do not manually edit database values.

## Booking Cancelled but Customer Has Not Received Money

This can happen because booking cancellation and payment refund are separate.

Check:

- Was the refund actually submitted to the provider?
- Is the provider refund pending?
- Was the refund sent to the correct transaction?
- Was only the Eventixa booking cancelled?

Always verify the provider refund status.

## Refund and Ticket Capacity

Cancelling a booking through the supported Eventixa workflow can release ticket capacity.

If Eventixa Pro Waitlist is active, newly released capacity can immediately be reserved for the next eligible waitlisted customer.

So a ticket may remain unavailable even after a cancellation because the released place has already been reassigned.

## Payment Works for One Event but Not Another

Compare the events.

Check differences in:

- Ticket price
- Currency context
- Ticket sale status
- Coupon configuration
- Payment method
- WooCommerce routing
- Event/occurrence
- Checkout configuration

If the same gateway works elsewhere, the problem may be event/ticket-specific.

## Payment Works in Test but Not Live

Check:

- Live credentials
- Live gateway activation
- Supported currency
- Provider account status
- Required production configuration
- Domain/HTTPS requirements
- Provider-side restrictions

Do not copy test keys into a live configuration.

## Payment Works in Live but Not Test

Check whether:

- Test mode is enabled
- Test credentials are correct
- Test account/sandbox is valid
- Test payment details are appropriate for the provider

Live and test environments are separate.

## Security and Firewall Issues

Online payment providers can require callbacks or external requests.

If a provider confirms payment but Eventixa does not update, review whether:

- Security plugins block requests
- Web application firewall rules interfere
- Server restrictions block callbacks
- Caching affects dynamic payment endpoints

Do not disable security permanently as a fix. Use controlled testing to identify the conflict.

## Cache and Payment Pages

Payment and checkout pages are dynamic.

Avoid aggressive full-page caching on:

- Checkout
- Payment return pages
- Booking confirmation pages
- My Account booking pages

If payment state appears stale, clear relevant caches and reload the booking in WordPress admin.

## Example: Booking Pending After PayPal

Suppose a customer completes PayPal but Eventixa still shows the booking as pending.

Use this workflow:

1. Open the PayPal transaction.
2. Verify the payment succeeded.
3. Compare amount and currency.
4. Compare the customer and transaction timestamp.
5. Open the Eventixa booking.
6. Check payment method and payment status.
7. Record the PayPal transaction ID.
8. Check whether the site received the payment result.
9. Do not ask the customer to repay until the first transaction is confirmed.

## Example: Offline Booking Not Paid

Suppose a customer selects bank transfer.

Eventixa creates the booking, but payment remains pending.

This can be correct.

After the bank transfer is actually received, use your supported admin workflow to update the booking/payment state.

## Recommended Diagnostic Workflow

When payment fails:

1. Confirm the ticket is paid.
2. Confirm the currency.
3. Confirm the selected gateway is enabled.
4. Confirm gateway credentials.
5. Confirm test/live mode.
6. Complete a controlled test checkout.
7. Open **Eventixa → Bookings**.
8. Review booking status.
9. Review payment status.
10. Verify the provider transaction.
11. Compare amount and currency.
12. For WooCommerce, review the WooCommerce order.
13. For offline payment, verify payment outside the website.
14. For refunds, verify the provider refund separately from booking cancellation.
15. Record transaction references before contacting support.

## Troubleshooting

### No Payment Gateway Appears

Check:

- Ticket price is greater than zero.
- Gateway is enabled.
- Gateway configuration is complete.
- Eventixa Pro is active for Stripe.
- WooCommerce gateways are active when using WooCommerce Checkout.

### PayPal Is Missing

Review **Eventixa → Settings → Payments** and confirm PayPal is active and configured.

### Stripe Is Missing

Confirm Eventixa Pro is active and Stripe is enabled/configured.

### Booking Remains Pending

Review:

- Payment status
- Provider result
- Test/live environment
- Gateway transaction

### Customer Was Charged but Booking Is Pending

Verify the provider transaction before any retry. Record the transaction ID and compare it with the Eventixa booking.

### Offline Booking Is Not Paid

This can be expected until the offline payment is actually received and the supported admin workflow updates the payment state.

### WooCommerce Order Is Paid but Eventixa Booking Is Wrong

Verify the WooCommerce order and compare it with the associated Eventixa booking.

### Refund Did Not Reach the Customer

Confirm the refund was actually processed through the payment provider. Booking cancellation alone does not guarantee a financial refund.

### Currency Is Wrong

Review: **Eventixa → Settings → Payments → Currency**

Correct the setting for future transactions and verify gateway support.

### Payment Works in Test but Not Live

Check live credentials, live gateway status, production account settings, supported currency, HTTPS, and provider restrictions.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Why does a booking exist if payment failed?

Booking creation and payment completion are separate parts of the registration workflow. Always review the payment status and provider transaction.

### Can I mark a booking paid if the customer says they paid?

Verify the payment with the provider first. Do not rely only on the customer's statement when an online transaction is involved.

### Does cancelling a booking automatically refund the customer?

Not necessarily. Cancellation and payment refund are separate. Some payment methods require the actual refund to be processed through the provider.

### Why is an offline booking still pending?

Offline payment is handled outside the online gateway flow. The booking can remain pending until payment is confirmed through your operational process.

### Does Stripe require Eventixa Pro?

Yes. Native Stripe payment support requires Eventixa Pro.
